Used Chevy Suburban

Chevy Suburban driving on the road - Bob Jass Chevrolet in Elburn IL

The Chevy Suburban has a rich history. Originally built as a pickup truck, the Suburban was first released in 1936, making it one of the oldest model lines in the country. Contemporary models are now full-sized SUVs with third row seating. Buying a used Chevy Suburban at our Elburn dealership is an excellent choice for large families that also need some heavy duty towing and cargo capacity.

Latest Generation Chevy Suburbans(2007 to Present)

Cars from 2007 to right now make up the eleventh generation (the vehicle is expected to be redesigned for the 2015 model year); these will likely be most of the used models you'll find. Since the generation has been out so long, early models will be quite affordable. This generation provides a smoother ride than older models and everything from handling to gas mileage was improved. These models have full-length side curtain airbags and stability control, which older cars might not have. The main thing to look out for is engines and output. After 2010, power increased on all engines and the 5.3L V8 became standard at all levels. There's also a 6.2L V8 available too.

10th Gen Chevrolet Suburbans (2000 to 2006)

If you're searching for a bargain, then a tenth generation Suburban may be more to your liking. It was a little smaller than earlier models, but still big enough for your entire family and their stuff. Among engine options, you'll want to hold out for the 8.1L V8 capable of 340 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque, which wasn't available until 2001. Another feature you'll want to look out for is Quadrasteer, introduced in 2003. This was a new steering system that shortened the SUV's turning circle by eight feet.
