1997-2003 Malibu Models

The 1997 Malibu was introduced as a FWD model and was named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. The 1998 model was upgraded with optional leather trim and a sunroof. The 2000 Malibu's 3.1L V6 engine was improved by giving it some muscular driving power.

2004-2008 Malibu Models

Those who follow the Chevy Malibu closely will know that there was a rare one-year overlap between Malibu models. This outgoing generation was dubbed the “Malibu Classic” to distinguish between the two 2008 editions. This generation of the Malibu was offered in two different body styles, the four-door sedan and a five-door Malibu Maxx station wagon. During these years, the LS and LT models were powered by a 2.2L four-cylinder engine, while Malibu SS models had a 3.9L 240 hp V6 engine. A remote start feature was also made available.

2008-2012 Malibu Models

The seventh generation Malibu debuted in 2008. A 2.4L 169 hp four-cylinder engine initially was available on all trim options except for the LTZ, until 2009 when it became available on all Malibu models. With plenty of space, a stylish exterior, and smooth ride, this Chevy sedan felt more luxurious than previous models.
