Experience the Camaro ZL1 and Cobalt SS on Real Racing 3

By RyanE | Posted in Chevy Vehicles on Friday, May 10th, 2013 at 12:42 PM

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
If you’re a fan of mobile games and Chevy cars, you might want to check out Real Racing 3 from EA Games. Available for both Android and iOS, Real Racing 3 offers a thrilling, realistic racing experience, allowing you to choose from 45 different vehicles and race on a variety of real-world race tracks. You can even race against your friends with EA’s impressive Time Shifted Multiplayer technology.

Update Adds Real Chevy Cars

The latest update to Real Racing 3 is particularly notable for Chevy fans because it adds two new vehicles to the mix: the Camaro ZL1 and the Cobalt SS.

The Chevrolet Cobalt SS is no longer in production, but it’s still quite popular among fans of sport compacts. Chevy’s first attempt to break into the tuner market failed to achieve widespread success, but that had more to do with the fact that the sport compact market is highly competitive and doesn’t have a ton of mainstream appeal than any great deficiency in the Cobalt SS itself. Available in three different models – Naturally-aspirated, Supercharged, and Turbocharged – the Cobalt offered impressive performance and handling at a price that few competitors could match. The SS Turbocharged, outfitted with a 2.0L Ecotec engine capable of churning out 260 hp, is a powerful little car: it can go from 0 to 60 in just 5.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 155 mph.

Chevy fans with an interest in both mobile gaming and the muscle-car revival will be pleased to note that the Camaro ZL1 – the most powerful Camaro ever – is available on the most recent update of Real Racing 3. The real-life Camaro features a supercharged, intercooled, 6.2L V8 with 580 hp and 556 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the ZL1 can go from 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 180 mph. But the ZL1 offers more than just power: it’s a machine tuned to perfection, with intuitive handling, smooth acceleration, and a satisfying exhaust note.

While it certainly doesn’t compare to driving the real thing, gamers are sure to enjoy the visceral thrills that these vehicles offer in Real Racing 3.

Updates Made to the 2014 Chevy Impala

By RyanE | Posted in 2014 Chevrolet Vehicle on Friday, April 19th, 2013 at 12:01 PM

2014 Chevrolet Impala

Chevy has made its name as a manufacturer that doesn’t like to stay in one place. They apparently can’t stop innovating and creating new and improved models year after year. Perhaps that’s why their updates to the 2014 Chevy Impala are so exciting. Chevy’s top engineers have done their best to create a roomier and more comfortable Impala for this year’s model.

Spaciousness Calculator

Don’t think that the changes made to the Impala were done without careful consideration and research. Chevy used a “spaciousness calculator” to create an Impala with more leg and head room as well as larger storage areas. This spaciousness calculator used tools such as computer models, human ergonomic design, and 3D Automated Visual Environment to find the best ways to make the vehicle roomier without adding to the cost.

Increased Legroom

Using this calculator, Chevy was able to add two inches of legroom for the driver, increasing the range of adjustment for the front seats and simultaneously giving the back seat riders more leg room. The rear legroom of the Impala has been increased by more than two inches due to the increased wheelbase and thinner front seats.

Center Console Adjustments

The center console in the 2014 Chevy Impala has also been redesigned to increase knee spread for both driver and passenger. Chevy moved the instrument panel a bit lower to give you more room to spread your knees. This will make longer drives much more comfortable in the Impala.

Fit More Junk in the Trunk

The Impala has never been celebrated for its ample trunk space but that will all change with the 2014 model. It now has just about 19 cubic feet in the trunk which easily makes it the industry leader in compact trunk space. There are full sized cars with smaller trunks.

These updates help address some complaints that have been lodged at the Impala while still keeping it in the compact class. They also shouldn’t severely increase the price of the vehicle making this a win-win situation for all involved!

The Volt is pioneering the future of car technology with a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain designed to have a battery life capable of withstanding the average day commute. What to Drive for Prom

By RyanE | Posted in Bob Jass, Chevy Vehicles on Friday, April 12th, 2013 at 11:32 AM

2013 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
When you think prom, a whole slew of traditions come to mind. From the dresses to the tuxes, the night of to the day after; there are so many things to consider and plan for. One thing that often gets overlooked in the hustle and bustle is what type of car you should take to prom. There are a number of options available, and it all depends on what you feel is the best choice for you. Here’s a list of the best cars for prom, depending on whether it’s just you and your date, or a whole group of friends.

Old-Fashioned Limousine

For those who have never had the opportunity to ride in a limousine, this is your chance to take advantage of the opportunity, especially if you’re going with a large group of people. There are a number of limo options, ranging from the standard Lincoln model to more upscale ones like the Hummer and Escalade limousines. The limo is a perfect mode of transportation if you have a group and you all want to go together, making it even pretty affordable. It’s also a good choice if you don’t want to drive and have to worry about parking, valets, or theft.

Sports Cars

If you want to go for a little more style and don’t mind driving, you may be interested in taking a sports car. Options include cars from Chevrolet like the Corvette or Camaro, or even a modest Ford Mustang. If you really want to make an impression, you could try to secure a Lamborghini for the night. These are great choices also if it’s just going to be you and your date in the car, and you want to arrive in some style.

SUVs

A third option is to travel in an SUV. This is another strong choice if you’re traveling in a larger group. SUVs also allow you to travel in style in vehicles such as the latest Chevrolet Suburban. It has plenty of room, offers high-quality seating surfaces, and delivers a number of high-tech features such as MP3 or USB connections to listen to your favorite tunes while on the road.

New 2014 Chevy Impala, New Engines, New Prices

By RyanE | Posted in 2014 Chevrolet Vehicle on Thursday, April 11th, 2013 at 1:40 PM

2014 Chevrolet Impala
The fully redesigned 2014 Chevy Impala may have a whole new look, but the new Impala price hasn’t increased as much as you’d expect with such a dramatic facelift. Base models of the 2013 Chevy Impala started at an MSRP of $25,860, and the 2014 Chevy Impala will start at a friendly $27,535 for the base LS version. The 2014 Chevy Impala is also now offering two engine choices, whereas previous models were all equipped with the same 3.6L V6. The standard engine is now a 2.5L four-cylinder engine capable of 195 hp , with the option of the 3.6L V6 capable of 303 hp. Drivers will now see bigger price jumps between trim levels depending on which engine choice they want.

  • LT trim level equipped with a 2.5L four-cylinder – $29,785
  • LT trim level equipped with a 3.6L V6 – $30,760
  • LTZ trim level equipped with a 2.5L four-cylinder – $34,555
  • LTZ trim level equipped with a 3.6L V6 – $36,580

Drivers will also have the option of a maximum fuel-saving 2.4L four-cylinder engine with an eAssist hybrid system, but pricing has not yet been released.

However, you’re not just paying for more engine options in the 2014 Chevy Impala. The eye-catching new Impala also features an impressively redesigned interior that includes an 8-inch touchscreen display in the revised center stack, with high-end convenience features such as navigation and the Chevy MyLink smartphone integration system. But Chevy didn’t only focus on glamour, as they didn’t skimp on the safety features. The 2014 Chevy Impala also showcases 10 airbags, lane-departure warning system, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera, and rear parking assist.

New Luxury Design in Store for the 2014 Chevy Silverado High Country

By RyanE | Posted in 2014 Chevrolet Vehicle on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 at 12:17 PM
2013 Chevy Silverado

2013 Chevy Silverado

The Chevy Silverado has been a top truck for Chevy year after year and each new model seems to push the envelope further. Fans of the 2013 Silverado can rest easy because we at Bob Jass have spied some early spy shots of the 2014 Silverado High Country and are intrigued by the new, luxurious design details that are apparent. These imply a new direction for the Silverado and could indicate a new direction for Chevy trucks in general.

What Are the Changes?

Well, the spy photographs we’ve seen are out on public streets and the truck is pretty well camouflaged. But our photographers saw some great new design details which immediately helped the High Country stand out in a crowd. The front fascia looks as if it will receive special new badging and 20-inch chrome wheels. The trim also seemed to offer more detail, resulting in a more streamlined, aerodynamic look. We couldn’t see the interior, but these types of exterior changes are indicative of interior updates as well.

What’s the Big Deal?

The Silverado High Country has always been known for its power and handling but never for luxury. As luxury cars become more and more popular, more vehicles are emulating the looks of these vehicles without spending thousands of extra dollars. If Chevy is already adding new details like this to a truck like the Silverado High Country, it may indicate a more luxury-oriented approach on a wide variety of vehicles. It’s still too early to tell if that’s the case, but it’s got us here at Bob Jass quite excited.

What Else Have You Heard?

The Silverado High Country has always had a powerful, efficient engine, and we are sure that’ll stay the same for the 2014 model. However, we don’t expect any huge changes. The design details added for 2014 seem more like a mid-cycle refresh as opposed to an all new generation. Expect a 5.3L V8 engine with a fuel efficiency of about 23 mpg; huge for a truck like the Silverado High Country. The 2014 Silverado High Country could be a huge deal with a design focus on luxury and Chevy’s consistent focus on high powered, efficient engines.

Chevrolet to Produce a New Midsize Pickup Truck

By RyanE | Posted in 2013 Chevrolet Trucks, Chevy Vehicles on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 8:17 PM

Bob Jass Logo

If you’re looking for a new Chevy car, truck, or SUV in Elburn, then head on over to Bob Jass Chevrolet. We’ve got a great selection of the latest Chevy models, as well as a full lineup of pre-owned makes and models from a variety of manufacturers. In addition, you can expect to see a brand new midsize pickup truck by the end of 2014 or early 2015, as General Motors is going to launch two new midsize pickups, one of which will be under the Chevrolet brand.

What we know at this point is that the new Chevy is going to be targeted towards the “lifestyle” truck buyer, which is someone that uses it on a daily basis. What you can expect to see is a truck that offers better fuel economy than current full-size pickups. After all, not everyone needs everything that a full-size truck offers. It will also be larger in size than the Toyota Tacoma, which is classified as a compact pickup.

The launch of these new midsize pickup trucks is going to be around the same time as the new redesigned Ford F-150, which is supposed to be released sometime towards the end of next year or the beginning of the year after. This Chevy pickup is going to be designed to compete with the F-150. As Mark Reuss, president of GM North America put it, nobody will have what GM has with these new pickup trucks.

A major reason why General Motors decided to create these pickups was the fact that many buyers wanted a truck that they could use to carry cargo but was also more fuel efficient.

To learn more about what this new midsize pickup truck from Chevy will offer, be sure to stop by your Chevy dealer in Elburn. Our staff at Bob Jass Chevrolet will be glad to provide as much information to you as they have and will be sure to update you as more information becomes available. You can also give us a call at 630-365-6481 with any questions you have about our dealership.

Chevy Reveals Towing Capacity of the Redesigned 2014 Silverado 1500

By RyanE | Posted in 2014 Chevrolet Vehicle, Chevrolet Silverado on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 8:13 PM

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500Our dealership has been all abuzz this year with news of the redesigned 2014 Chevy Silverado. Marking the start of a new generation, the iconic pickup truck will be more aerodynamic, more fuel efficient, and come with more technology than ever before. Seriously, if you’re a pickup truck driver, then you are definitely going to want to test drive this bad boy when it comes to our dealership. One thing that hasn’t been revealed yet, though, is towing capacity. Well, now we’ve finally gotten some word about one of them.

Best-in-Class Towing Capacity

The 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine has been rated for its towing capabilities and our Elburn Chevy dealer has learned it will be able to tow a maximum of 11,500 pounds. That’s a lot of poundage! Keep in mind this is only the mid-range engine choice; there’s a lot more to come. What’s very special about 11,500 pounds is its 200 more pounds than the closest competing model, which is the EcoBoost-equipped Ford F-150. The competition between the Silverado and the F-150 has been really hot these last couple years, and it looks like the Silverado has finally come out ahead.

The 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 Should Offer More Towing Capacity

While the 5.3L is already quite impressive, be aware that the bigger 6.2L EcotTec3 has yet to be rated. This engine has been called a “freight train,” so you know it’s going to offer a lot power and increase the Silverado towing capacity even further. The base engine, which is a 4.3L V6, has also yet to be rated. Since it’s a V6, it won’t be quite as powerful as either of the V8 options, but it will likely offer some decent power for the average working man.

The 2014 Silverado 1500 is Coming Soon to Bob Jass Chevrolet

We very much expect the newly redesigned Silverado to hit our Elburn dealership most likely in the fall of this year. You’re certainly going to want to be there when it does and get in one of the first test drives. In the meantime, we do have the 2013 Chevy Silverado in stock if you need a pickup truck right away. You can also contact the dealership to learn more about the other features of the vehicle.

GM Reveals Price on 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

By RyanE | Posted in 2014 Chevrolet Vehicle, Chevrolet Silverado on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 8:09 PM

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500Car enthusiasts who have been waiting for the price on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to be announced don’t have to wait any longer. GM has revealed that the new Silverado 1500 will be sold with a base price of $24,585, the same base price that the 2013 Silverado was sold at, which can be seen at Bob Jass Chevy in Elburn. Elburn-area Chevy drivers can visit Bob Jass to learn more about the new 2014 Silverado, which is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2013.

Silverado 1500 owners will be glad to see a similar price on the 2014 model as the current edition, especially as improvements were made to the new Silverado. Upgrades include a new standard six-speed automatic transmission alongside a more fuel-efficient 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine. The EcoTec3 engine is expected to deliver 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Consumers will also like the fact that the V8 engine is designed to be able to run on regular 87 octane fuel to help save money at the pumps.

The 2WD models are estimated to get 23 highway mpg, while 4×4 models are estimated to get 22 highway mpg, better than any of the Silverado’s V8 competitors, and also an improvement from the EcoBoost turbocharged V6 models for the 2013 Silverado. The double cab 2WD Silverado that comes equipped with the available maximum towing package, which will be available at a later time, will deliver a maximum towing rating of 11,500 lbs, more than any other light duty pickup available.

Other features on the 2014 Silverado 1500 include a new interior and a standard 2-year/24,000-mile scheduled maintenance program. Included in that package are services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and various inspections.

Chevy drivers in Elburn and the surrounding communities can stop by their Elburn Chevy dealer and find out more information about the new 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500. While you’re here you can test drive the 2013 Silverado to get a feel for how this pickup handles on the road. Feel free to contact us with any questions and our staff will be glad to assist you.

Chevy Donates Water-Damaged Hurricane Sandy Cars to Help Train First Responders

By RyanE | Posted in Bob Jass, Chevy Vehicles on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013 at 2:23 PM

Bob Jass LogoHurricane Sandy was a terrible tragedy, with the resulting damage’s effects still being felt on the east coast. While our Elburn Chevy dealership was far out of the reach of the disaster, all of us know people who were affected in some way, whether they are relatives whose homes were destroyed or our fellow Chevy dealers who lost millions of dollars worth of merchandise. This is why we’re very happy Chevy has decided to donate 300 cars damaged in Hurricane Sandy to help train first responders.

Destroyed by Water Damage

Right after Hurricane Sandy hit, Chevy gave 24 Chevy Express cargo vans to Habitat for Humanity to help them restore parts of the east coast that were the most devastated by the storm. But then what to do with all the new vehicles damaged by the storm? Cars waiting at port and vehicles at dealerships were damaged beyond repair. One option would be to crush them, but Chevy decided to get creative and donate them to the Guardian Centers in Perry, Georgia where they could be used to train first responders.

An Automotive Partner of Guardian Centers

Guardian Centers trains millions of first responders throughout the country with the help of a fully-functional, realistic cityscape simulator. With the help of Chevy’s donated vehicles, they can create a transportation system in their simulator that will help bring an extra level of realism. When first responders train at the centers, they will be in an environment exactly like their home cities.

Guardian Centers is a multi-purpose facility that can train first responders in small-scale scenarios or operations using 7000 people. They regularly train people in many types of emergency scenarios. Besides natural disasters, they go through nuclear, radiological, chemical spills, and many others. These vehicles will be used in scenarios in high traffic congestion, counter terrorism, and mass casualty exercises.

Thanks to Chevy’s donations, first responders will be able to have more realistic training that will help them to better serve people after a disaster. While the Elburn area is not likely to have a hurricane anytime soon, there’s always a possibility of massive tornado damage or a chemical spill. If something horrible ever happens, we’ll all be thankful for Chevy’s contribution.
