"2008 Highest Ranked Midsize Car in Initial Quality"
Chevy Malibu was awarded the highest ranking in J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Initial Quality StudySM for midsize cars.(1) 1 Chevrolet Malibu received the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles among midsize cars in the proprietary J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Initial Quality StudySM. Study based on responses from 81,530 new-vehicle owners, measuring 344 models and measures opinions after 90 days of ownership. Proprietary study results are based on experiences and perceptions of owners surveyed in February–April 2008. Chevy Volt The extended-range electric vehicle that is redefining the automotive world is no longer just a rumor. In fact, its propulsion system is so revolutionary, it's unlike any other vehicle or electric car that's ever been introduced. And we're making this remarkable vision a reality, so that one day you'll have the freedom to drive gas-free. Chevy Volt is designed to move more than 75 percent of America's daily commuters without a single drop of gas.(1) That means for someone who drives less than 40 miles a day, Chevy Volt will use zero gasoline and produce zero emissions.(2) Unlike traditional electric cars, Chevy Volt has a revolutionary propulsion system that takes you beyond the power of the battery. It will use a lithium-ion battery with a variety of range-extending onboard power sources, including gas and, in some vehicles, E85 ethanol(3) to recharge the battery while you drive beyond the 40-mile battery range. And when it comes to being plugged in, Chevy Volt will be designed to use a common household plug. Chevy Volt. Fully Charged 2010. ECOTEC 2.2L I-4 Engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT)

- Noted for its low noise and vibration levels, a result of the engine's rigid structure, counter-rotating balance shafts, structural oil pan and other features
- Is designed to go five years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first) before replacing the coolant, for 100,000 miles before changing the spark plugs and, based on driving conditions. You may never need to change the automatic transmission fluid (on Cobalt models equipped with this available transmission). Just note, maintenance needs vary with different uses and driving conditions. See the Owner's Manual for more information.

Silverado XFE
The Silverado XFE (xtra fuel economy) arrives late this fall. It is designed and engineered specifically to improve miles per gallon and will offer the best available fuel economy in a full-size pickup(1) — an EPA estimated MPG 15 city, 21 highway. With Active Fuel Management technology from GM, the Vortec 5.3L V8 engine standard in Suburban half-ton models and the Vortec 6.0L V8 engine available in half-ton models deliver power when you need it, while providing the efficiency of four cylinders when you don't. - In situations where extra power is not needed, such as cruising down the highway on level roads, Active Fuel Management deactivates four of the eight cylinders with seamless precision.
- When load demands increase, such as when the vehicle accelerates or travels uphill, valves are reactivated to provide eight-cylinder operation.
- The bottom line: the Vortec 5.3L and 6.0L V8 engines in Suburban half-ton models are more efficient in providing the energy to move the vehicle when only four of the eight cylinders are operating.
- The powerful 32-bit engine control computer triggers cylinder deactivation based on inputs from vehicle sensors — making deactivation almost undetectable.
- Active Fuel Management technology helps the 2009 Suburban 2WD equipped with the Vortec 5.3L V8 engine offer an EPA estimated MPG 14 city, 20 highway when running on gasoline. That means a driving range of up to 620 highway miles on a single tank of gas.
- In addition, exhaust-noise silencing measures and powertrain mounts add to the engine's overall smoothness.
