For 2013, the Chevy Aveo RS Will Be Known as the Chevy Sonic RS

From time to time, auto manufacturers will take one of their vehicle models and reinvent it, equipping it with new features and design elements and giving it a new name. For 2013, the Chevy Aveo RS will be know as the 2013 Chevy Sonic RS. The upcoming Sonic was once planned to arrive at Illinois Chevy dealers under the existing Aveo family, but after further evaluation, it was decided to spilt it off into its own model line.


The 2013 Chevy Sonic Will Be Available in Both Sedan and Hatchback Versions
At the 2010 North American International Auto Show, the small car was originally debuted as the Aveo RS concept. However, now that it has been confirmed that there will be no 2013 Chevy Aveo RS for Batavia drivers, we can all start focusing on the exciting things to come for the 2013 Chevy Sonic RS. Currently the car maker is hard at work developing the new vehicle, which is expected to make its way to our dealership in Elburn by the end of 2012. As of now, Chevy has yet to release specific details about the new Sonic. However, what we do know so far is that although the original concept was introduced as a hatchback-only vehicle, it is now expected to arrive in a sedan version as well.

The 2013 Sonic RS Will Be Powered by the Same Fuel-Efficient Engine as the Top-Selling Chevy Cruze

When the 2013 Sonic reaches Illinois Chevrolet dealerships, it is almost certain that it will be powered by the same fuel-efficient engine that is currently equipped on the Chevy Cruze — a 1.4L I-4 Ecotec engine that kicks out 138 hp. Buyers will also have a choice of either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. Another point worth mentioning is that the Chevy Sonic will be the first B-class car to ever be manufactured in the United States. The 2013 Chevy Sonic RS is scheduled to be built at the Orion Township plant in Michigan, adding as many as 1,200 new jobs to the struggling local economy.
