The 2012 Chevy Volt is making a charge in the Chicagoland area

Bob Jass is expecting the 2012 Chevrolet Volt sometime in the later part of 2011. The Chevy Volt has a range of around 40 miles solely on an electric motor that is powered by a 16kWh lithium-ion battery pack. A 1.4L 4-cylinder engine backs up this electric motor, allowing the driver to travel an additional 300-plus miles without having to refill or recharge. To increase efficiency even more, the Chevrolet engineers built the Volt to turn off its engine when the vehicle is at a standstill. This prevents unnecessary use of fuel or battery power, and ultimately it reduces the production of gas emissions. A standard 110V outlet can recharge the Volt’s lithium battery in 10 hours, and an optional 240V charger will get the Volt back to 100% battery power in 4 hours. User-friendly features have been a large focus for the Volt. This easy charging system allows drivers to plug in anywhere, including at home or the office. The 2012 Chevrolet Volt has 6 model groups that include a variety of features, and all models are set at a lower price than previous years. The price of the 2012 Volt has been dropped by $1,005. The standard features include: 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, charging cord, CD/MP3 stereo, navigation system, auxiliary input and USB port, XM satellite radio, cargo cover, touch-sensitive center stack controls, cruise control, seven-inch LCD display screen with drive-line and battery information, floor mats, keyless entry with push button start, variable intermittent wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heated mirrors, rear spoiler, OnStar, remote starter, cloth seats, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, tire pressure monitoring system, garage door opener, illuminated vanity mirrors, and auto up/down driver’s window. To add to the Volt’s cutting-edge technology, the engineers at GM designed a remote-charging and vehicle-control program that owners can download and run from Blackberry and Apple iPhone cell phones. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, front- and rear-obstacle detection, and a rearview camera are optional.
